WhatUCollect New Look
Change is good, right? We’re in the process of performing another face-lift to WhatUCollect. Yes, it has been less than two months since the last upgrade, but the site still didn’t have the feel we were looking for. The new look is much lighter in color and, in my opinion, just looks nicer. Unfortunately we aren’t able to roll all of the upgrades at once, so some pages will have the new look and some will still have the old look during the transition. Hopefully the changes won’t take more than a few days to complete. Let us know what you think, or if you find any problems with the new design.
We’ve also added a few options for your collections. You can now choose the default view (gallery or list) for your collections, as well as the default item sorting order (item name or date). So, if you prefer viewing your collections as as a list or sorting by the date you added items, you can now set the collection to always display it like that.
EDIT: 12/26/2009
The redesign has been put on hold and the previous design has been rolled back. We ran into some last minute compatibility and design issues that need to be resolved first.
EDIT 12/28/2009
In the process of rolling out new design now. Until it’s complete there will be some pages in the old design and some in the new, but everything should still be fully functional.
New Collection Comment Options
Posted by Steve on October 18th, 2009 No CommentsCollection Comment Options
We’ve just added two new options for collections hosted on WhatUCollect. The first is the ability to allow or disallow comments. If you don’t want other WhatUCollect users posting comments (only registered users can post comments on the site), then just set “Allow Comments” to “no”. The default is to allow comments.
The other new option will allow you to receive e-mail notifications when someone posts a comment to your collection or one of the items in your collection. This will be enabled by default, but can be turned off by setting “E-Mail When Commented” to “no”.
These options are both available when creating a new collection and on the Edit Collection page for existing collections. The settings are independent for each collection, so you can allow comments in one collection and disallow in another.
